Christmas Day

Here are some photos from our Christmas Day celebrations here in Qatar.

The day started off with a quick check to see if Santa had visited.  He had!IMG_5948

Johnathan on his new Green Machine – very cool…  IMG_5962

We had Christmas lunch at the Four Seasons Hotel with a big group of friends.  It was an all you can eat buffet, starting at midday and going to 5:30 in the afternoon.  The food was fantastic, the weather perfect (sitting out on the terrace looking out over the beach to Doha bay), and the company great.  There were plenty of activities for the kids so everyone was happy.  Santa made yet another visit ensuring the kids were spoilt again!

The bouncy castle – no Doha family event is complete without one and always a big hit with the kids.IMG_2647

A tough place to spend Christmas day…IMG_2653

Qatar National Day

A spectacular show on the Corniche tonight. Great entertainment on the walk down with all celebrating in their cars with determination. The fireworks were amazing. Susie very tired on the way home, and fell asleep on dad's shoulders.

Qatar National Day Military Parade

National Day celebrations are taking place in Qatar today – there is great excitement.  Cars are decorated with the national colours, kids sit on the roofs of their parent cars while they drive around town (quite alarming really), and activities focus on the corniche (Doha Bay).  This morning was the military parade where Qatar parades its military might for all to see.  Below are a few photos from the parade.  Impressive really with a lot of special forces types and even complete with a few Porsches for the military police!

Christmas Carols at the Singing Dunes

Tonight we went to Christmas carols at the singing dunes with a big group of friends. Nanny Helen and Poppy Paul are visiting so it was there second time at the dunes for carols. As you can see in the photos, we all had a great time enjoying a bbq, the carols around a bonfire, toasting marshmallows, and playing on the dunes. The kids were very sandy...

Johnathan's School Production - The Isle of Struay

Johnathan recently performed in the year 2 production at his school, called "The Isle of Struay". It is a scottish story about Katy Morag and her adventures on the Isle of Struay. The story was about tourists who visit the island (Johnathan played an Aussie tourist complete with hat with dangling corks) and have all sorts of experiences. It was a fantastic show with music, including the bagpipes, and classic songs such as "Donald where's your troosers".
